Squash At Lexden
Lexden Rackets and Fitness Club has a very active and strong squash section. There are five courts, three of which are glass-back. Games can be seen in action on two of these from the bar and the adjacent area, where there's also seating. Team matches are also played on those courts, so it's possible to socialise and enjoy a drink whilst enjoying top level squash being played.
The club coach, Paul Allen, organises several tournaments throughout the year for members to enter.
Handicapped Scoring Tournament - Club players of all abilities are issued a plus or minus handicapped score depending on their level of ability, they then compete against each other in a fun and sociable knockout event usually during the months of January and February.
Annual Squash Club Championships - Club players of all abilities and ages can compete in our annual club championships. Categories included are Men’s A, B, C and D, Ladies, Juniors and Racketball. This event usually takes place around the months of April, May and June.
Age Graded Championships - Veteran players compete against one another in various categories including Over 35’s, Over 45’s, Over 55’s and Over 65’s. This event usually takes place around October, November and December.
Online monthly box leagues continue to be one of the clubs most popular activities. Currently over 100 squash members divided into approximately twenty leagues of all abilities enjoy regularly competing against one another.
A chance for adult members to just turn up and play other members of all abilities. These sessions are free of charge and only available to members. These take place every Sunday from 4pm-6pm and on the first Wednesday of the month, 6pm-8pm
Racketball is currently the fastest growing racket sport in the country. Whether converting from squash or starting from scratch Lexden now has plenty of opportunity to play racketball including club box leagues and beginner courses.
